Genting Getaway

MONTHS ago Nicholas and I planned to have a Genting trip during our holiday and finally we got our chance when we had our same semester break last week. I called along my coursemates Jenny and Choon Wah (who is also our ex-classmate) as well.

Some photos. Might took some time to load. Hehe.

Enter Casino for the First Time

I just came back from Genting Highlands yesterday. Feeling great! Never had so much fun. =) And on top of that, I went to the casino. Didn't bet of course. Just to have a look. Nicholas wanted to try some luck but didn't because..erm, no accompany.

Legally I am still not able to enter casino as I still haven't reach 21...until this coming October. The first time Nicholas and I entered the First World Starclub, the guard didn't check on us so we were able to go in.

Unfortunately the second time when we tried to enter the Monte Carlo Casino on another place, the guard stopped us and checked our IC. And so we couldn't able to enter =(

A couple who saw us being kicked told us to use the main entrance instead. We went there and from the outside we saw the guard inside checking the IC as well so I think we had no chance already.

Ahhh....nevermind lah. That's not all about Genting. There were still many things for us to do up there. And it's school holiday. Many chicks up there. Hehe.

Somemore Space

THE other day my roomate and I was doing our studio drawings on our beds because our study desks are too small for it.

I realise that as I get older, the paper that I used is also getting bigger. During kindergarden we used A4 paper for colouring class. Then came to primary school we used paper about A3 size for art drawing.

As I entered Uni, it was my first time using an A2 paper (for draughtsmanship assignment). And now in my 2nd year, I am using A1 paper for presentation drawings. That's about eight times bigger than the usual A4 size.

Since my roomate and I do not go to studio to do our work (lazy to walk so far =p) and the hostel room that we are staying is not designed for archi students like us, we had to create space in the room to do our work.

This is what our room looked like at the beginning:

First we rotated our desk.
Then we arranged the bed position (not the other bed position) and tried to figure out which kind of arrangement will give us enough space for our drawings. So after 90 mins of shifting, rotating, making noises in the middle of the night (it was already 3am) and resting this is what it turned out in the end:
There is no way we can get extra space unless we remove one of our sleeping area. Then only one of us will get to sleep on bed while the other will have to sleep on the floor like how the Japanese do.

I have no problem with it as long as there is a matress for me to sleep on. When there is work to do, one of our bed will be used as draughting table and when there it isn't, both of us can still sleep on the our bed respectively.

Some of the friends were suprised to see the arrangement when entered our room. Some even said that it now looks like an office already. Haha.

It's Been A While

Yup! It has been a LONG while since I last posted something here. I did post something via Twitter (if you look at the right side bar) because it is much easier for me.
The main reason I seldom blog is because of the lousy connection here in my hostel. Everytime also use this excuse huh. But true what!! Quite pissed off sometimes because paid for RM110 per semester for a broadband connection that always get disconnected for most of the times.
However I can't blame mainly at the connection because I was kinda lazy to blog sometimes. Hehe. Whenever the connection is good, either I'll go and surf others' blog or LAN counter strike with fellow coursemates.
So why the sudden blog? Haha. I also dunno. Cause just feel like blogging lor. (and miss posting pics here =p)
It's been 3 weeks since my new sem started. Wow! Just some blinks of eye and I am in my 2nd year now already. My ex-roomate calls it 'sek kan yeh'(eating in Cantonese).
I am no longer staying with my previous year roomate. Right now my roomate is Choon Wah, who is also my coursemate, who was also my classmate back in Form 6 in MBS.
*~*~*~*~*~*
I just got back from Malacca just now. Earlier on Friday after my studio class, I went to Singapore by bus to my aunt's house in Toa Payoh. Before going there, I stopped by at Dhoby Ghaut station and looked for my way to Niven Road (somewhere near Selegie Road, Indian street there) to search for a building.
Previously saw an article in D&A magazine about a shoplot which converted into house caught my attention so I thought it would be interesting if I take a look at the place myself. Plus, I can use it as my reference for my 2nd studio project, which is to design an architect's office from old shoplots in Senai.
Niven Road
Their backalley is sooo clean
The experience of actually seeing the real thing itself from the books or TV was exciting and quite suprising. It's like you never knew in someday you could actually see the real thing right in front of you.

OK back to Singapore... When I arrived at my aunt's place it was already 8 like that. Took a hot shower and dinner. Watched some TV shows and went to sleep quite early that night, about 11 something. (Consider quite early fo me already. For the past few days I sleept at about 3 or in the morning.
The next morning (Sat), we followed my cousin's car back to my hometown in Sg Rambai, Malacca. Left Singapore at 7.30am and reached Malacca at about 10.30am, using the seond link.
Getting ready
On that night, a grand total 14 of us cousins went to catch 'Rush Hour 3' at Mahkota Parade. The cinema hall was a full house and the movie was enjoyable+funny! Chris Tucker in his typical funny character and Jackie Chan with his own stunt. Recommended to anyone who wants a good laugh.
Went to the arcade before the started
Some models doing catwalk pratice at night

How the escalator is locked there
It was past midnight with the movie ended, some of the younger cousins went back with an aunt's car and left the 7 seven of us (the elder ones). We went for supper in town.

Supper time
On the way there, while waiting for the traffic light at the junction, suddenly came two big police truck stopped right in the middle of the junction, blocking the cars from my side to move forward. Some officers came down to put the barriers. Some brought torchlights and started patroling. Just like those scene from the movie.

At first I thought what was gonna happen. Then one of my cousin said that either they were checking for illegal racers or there has been a robbery happened somewhere and they wana blocked the road. But after awhile, they reversed the trucks and letting the cars to move again. God knows what were they doing.
On the following day, which is today, all the relatives went to Malacca to celebrate grandma's 80th birthday. We booked 4 tables. It is just me who hasn't been eating such nice food in UTM or what. The food tasted reeaaaal good.
The younger generation
The elder one
Three of my cousins around my age brought their bf/gfs back. One of them (1 year younger than me) had even engaged. As for me, I still haven't meet 'the one' so just relax first lah. Enjoy being single while I can. Hehe.
Grandma's birthday cake
Time to sing the birthday song~

After the lunch at about 2.30pm, dad brought me to Melaka Sentral to check if I could change my 4pm bus ticket to an earlier time but all the tickets to JB were all sold off so had no choice but to take the 4pm one. Back to my hostel at 7pm.
On the way back to UTM
Earlier, mum tapao some leftover food for my dinner meal. Yum~ Eating non-halal food inside UTM is very satisfying indeed. =p
Leftover food (I didn't take all of course)
ps: the hostel's connection is super super slow and lousy so I won't be posting any pics until I get back to KL this coming Saturday!!! Yeah..holiday!!

Daddy's Birthday

MANY of my friends' birthdays have passed during the month on June. Right after that famous-month-for-birthday-and-also-money-spending-on-birthday-present period, it is July. And 1st of July marked my dad's birthday.

Well, on this day we don't celebrate like how we celebrate the other friends' birthdays: Redbox, Greenbox, Neway, Oldway, Tsim Tung, Wong Kok, Nando's, Kaki Corner, Steven's Corner, Maison, Poppy, Thai Club etc etc.

And dad doesn't fancy cake either.

So we just have a casual dinner outside, as usual.

This year, dad bring us to a place recommended by his friends, where we never been before. It is a seafood restaurant in Hulu Langat, somewhere out of the town of KL.

The place is just like an ordinary makan restaurant you can find anywhere in Malaysia.

Oh by the way, this is the birthday boy man:

My mama and mei mei:

This restaurant is located at quite a remote area. I didn't know how dad entered that area because I was sleeping in the car that time. Too tired ok.

The place we had our dinner is located at a higher area and from there we could overlooked down the valley where they grow fishes (for the customers to eat). There are two big ponds down there. And the place is surrounded by the hills. Such a nice place.
Views of the surrounding:
One of the reason dad brought us there was to try out something special. Other than ordering typical dish: African fish (非洲鱼) and a vegetable, we ordered 'water fish' (水鱼) or labi-labi. It was my first time trying that in my life.
When I say 'water fish', it is not just fish. It is...
a turtle?
I've checked the wikipedia, it is called a softshell turtle (Pelodiscus sinensis), a kind of reptilia in the family of Trionychidae. Found in China, Taiwan, Korea, Manchuria, North Vietnam, Japan. Also, after being introduced to new environments, can be found in Singapore, Thailand, Batan Islands and California.

They don't serve the dish as shown the picture below. Nobody will have the apetite to eat after seeing it. Yeee, so geli!

This is how the dish looks like:
The white colour stuff is the shell
and the meat
Mum said that the it is a very heathly food. They cooked it with some herbs so it won't have the weird taste of 'turtle'. But I still feel geli when wanna swallow it.
Anyway after the meal, I took a walk with my sister at the fish pond below and the enjoyed the scenary and the cool breeze.

Going down
They rear the fish here as well

Some view
I dunno him
If anyone is interested of trying this exotic food, you may go there. It is located at somewhere near Batu 14 Cheras.
Here
After dinner, dad used the Hulu Langat way to go back to Pandan Indah and eventually we would come out from Taman Muda. Along the way at the mountain, there was a nice view of KL.
And I snapped a picture from a watch tower there. Very nice.
