Lang Tengah Trip (Day 3)

It was the last day on the island. We had nasi lemak for breakfast. After that, we packed our stuff and took some last shots before leaving the resort by boat at 8.30am.

Upon reaching the jetty at Merang, our bus was already there. We've decided to book a bus for a day tour in Kuala Terengganu since we were only leaving at night. So there'll be plenty of time for us to wander around the town.

For the first destination of the day, we went to the famous crystal mosque. The mosque is located beside a river and in Taman Tamadun Islam. Apart from the crystal mosque, we also passed by other replica of mosques from all over the world eg. Eygpt, Turkey, Iran etc. There is also a mini Taj Mahal.

We also met with one of our coursemates, Nadia who is staying in KT. She was kind enough to spend some time with us there. She also invited us to her dad's chicken rice store for lunch but nobody seems 'to be hungry at that time' and she left awhile later for some emergency reason.

Next, we visited the state museum. It is the largest museum in Malaysia and it is built in accordance with the traditional architecture of Terengganu. That is why it looks almost like our UTM building. The design and motives of the UTM building were actually adapted from the Terrengganu state. Haha. We felt so familiar when coming near the museum, as if we are going back to our campus in Skudai.

Before entering the musem (which cost RM2 per person), we went to the outdoor where they have some galleries and showcase some boats and wooden houses.

The Terrengganu State Museum has several exhibits, including the Main Museum, Maritime Museum, Fisheries Museum, 4 traditional houses and botanic and herbs gardens. But we didn't went to all the places.

There are ten galleries showcasing textiles, crafts, historical, royal, nature, art, petroleum, Islamic, new generation and contemporary arts. The original batu bersurat is also kept in the museum.

After the lunch we went to the visitor information center in town to ask if there are any more places that we could visit and we were suggested a few places like the batik stores, floating mosque and the Barok beach.

There was nothing much to see in the batik stores except for some booth to see how batik is produced and some expensive batik clothes and dresses. After visiting the stores we came to the floating mosque. It called a floating mosque because the mosque is built above the water, looks as if it is floating on the water. Other than that, it is just a typical mosque.

For the last destination of the tour, we came to Barok Beach and spent around an hour there. It has a loong beach facing the South China Sea and the wind was coming non-stop from the sea.

Back to our bus

The bus dropped all of us at the KT Bus Terminal and we went to McD's for our dinner and stayed there until it was time to leave. We also had a suprise birthday celebration for the 3 of them...
