Back to KL

HOORAAAY! Tomorrow night I will be leaving for KL. It will be my first time back home since I came to UTM, Johor.

There is an architecture forum on this coming Saturday and Sunday organised by the Faculty of Build Enviroment of UTM and the School of Architecture of Taylor's College at Taylor's College, Subang Jaya.
My group (the 1st year architecture batch are divided into two groups since it has quite a large number of students, 87 people) lecturer require us to attend the forum on these two days as part of our programe and we will get our credits for that.

Next Monday is the public holiday in Johor so there will not be any class on that day. Haha..so that means I can stay in KL until Monday.

Suddenly feel so miss KL. The KLCC, Bukit Bintang, Steven's Corner and even Pandan Indah's Fajar. Looking forward to meet my family and friends in KL!

Enchanted

YESTERDAY night was a memorable night for the architecture students of UTM, especially for the first year's.

As I said, there were many programes prepared for the busy-but-yet-got-time-to-enjoy architecture students throughout this five years in the university.

A function called the Enchanted Night (or Malam Silaturahim) was held last night. Organised by the 2nd year students and attended by all students as well as lecturers from architecture course of UTM.
The fifth year students
This year Enchanted Night is based on the theme of Fairy Tale. Thus everyone has to dress up as any character from any fairy tale stories. You could see Snow White, Cinderella, witches, Peter Pan, seven drawfs, dracula, Pinnochio, pirates, Robin Hood, prince charming, fairies, angels, demons, heroes, samurais and many more.
Robin Hoods from the 2nd year and 1st year.
As for first years students, we have to prepare some performance throughout the night. There were five different group of us (based on our workbase).

My group performance was STOMP! where we produced music beat by hitting on the old bins, junks, sticks etc. We also performed two songs, Switch by Will Smith and The Lion Sleeps Tonight from The Lion King cartoon.

Sedili

LAST Friday the 1st year architecture students and the lecturers had a trip to Sedili Country Resort, Johor.
It was our the first trip of the course.

The first activity: Sandcastle building
After that it was dinner time, the place has quite alot of blood suckers - Mosquitoes!
The next day we were asked to sketch pictures of the surroundings.

During the trip we learn to worship a God...
...a Silverstone Tyre God!
Left the resort on Saturday evening.

If I have a chance I would like to go there again...
because that I left a shirt over there, hanging behind the door -_-"

Don't really feel like writing so much so I just keep it short and simply this time.

Goodbye in Changi

WENT to Singapore after studio class on the last Friday (14th July) to meet up with Khong Jin. He was leaving for Melbourne to further his 5 years studies.

We went to the airport at 2.30 am and chatted at Starbucks before sending KJ off at 4.30 am.

Hopefully we get to meet again during Christmas time when he comes back. Take care buddy! And please control yourself over there..

We used to do crazy stuff, talk stupid nonsense, look at interesting people, and shared our secrets and thoughts .
Hope this will continue although we are now apart in two different continents. Miss ya!

The Beginning...

FINALLY I found a place for me the online in UTM, the computer lab of the Faculty of Build Enviroment. The library has more then 50 computers for students to access the net but they are always occupied.

It has been 11 days since I stepped my foot into this university. I am getting used to the enviroment here. Though I haven't explore each and every corner of UTM because it is too BIG already.

During the first week we had orientation. It was kinda tired because we had to get up as early as 5am and we only back to the hostel at about 1am. Everyday there were a few taklimats in the hall for all the freshies. Some of them were interesting but mostly were boring.

The hostel that I am staying at is called Kolej Rahman Putra. There were a few Kolej'es such as Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail, Kolej Tun Fatimah (only females), Kolej 11, Kolej Tun Razak etc. It will only take about 15 minutes walk from my bed to my faculty so that will not be a problem. Imagine if you have to take the shuttle bus from the hostel to the lecture hall. That's troublesome!

I am staying on the ground floor, quite near to the shared bathroom. However I can't open the room windows for 24 hours because it has no grill and people can easily climb into the room. One day I must bring this matter out to the Parliament Hall. The bathroom and Washing Room (for the clothes) are clean as there are people cleaning it frequently.

My roomate is from Mentakab, Pahang, taking Quantity Surveying course (which is a 3 years degree course). We are doing fine staying together as both of us are good and understand each other. Hehe.

And for my course, I am taking a Bachelor Degree in Architecture. It is a 5 years course! After graduate I have to work for at least 2 years (if I am not mistaken). And after that I still have to take the PART III exam from the Architect Association of Malaysia in order to become a profesional and recognised architect.

Study is a long journey...

What I like the most is my course timetable!!

Why?

Because I only have to go for lectures only on Tuesday (11am-4pm) and Thursday (8am-12pm).
Monday and Friday I have to go to the studio from 9am-5pm. The studio is like our second room beside the hostel because we will be spending most of our time there sketching, drawing and making models.

According to the seniors sometimes we will have to stay up til 11pm in the studio if there are many things to do. Architecture students are people who do not get enough sleep. We will not have normal sleeping hours (or sometimes even not at all) just like any other students. Staying awake for 2, 3 days in a row is no big deal, according to the senior.

Looks like I have to get more of Chicken Essense and 10-in-1 Super-Kau-Kau Coffee-plus-Tea in my room.

pics to be up soon...hopefully ;)
